Help people, and yourself, feel included.
Have you ever walked into a room and not known anyone? It’s kind of a yucky feeling looking around for someone to talk to when you see every one else is already in little groups conversing.
Next time you spy someone walk into a room alone, make eye contact with them, open up a space within the group you are talking with and invite the new person to join you.
My favourite line is “Would you like to join our pod?” I have never had anyone say no, people are so grateful to be invited. I give them a quick and quiet overview of the discussion we have going on, so that they feel fully included and then we are good to go.
If you are the one who doesn’t know anyone, wait for the right time, join a group and be honest, say something like, ‘Hi, I don’t know a soul.’ or ‘I’m here by myself, would it be ok if I joined you?’
Again, I have never have anyone say no. And it’s sure beats standing around feeling awkward.
Helping people, and yourself, feel included, it just one more way you can live Your Life, Unlimited!
Kathryn McKenzie is a personal trainer and author of the shiny new book, Throw Your Scale Away – Reclaiming the True Meaning of Health & Fitness. On Your Life, Unlimited radio, Kate offered up some insight on her philosophy of Feel Good, Look Good – rather than the other way around.
I do know people who judge how their day is going to be based on the number that the bathroom scale tells them in the morning.
Focus on being strong, fit and moving better.
Focus on being healthy and happy.
Focus on being true to yourself and authenticity.
Do activities that you love and bring you joy.
Go at your pace.
Kate says don’t use exercise as a punishment, maintaining health is not a 6 week bootcamp commitment, it’s a lifelong, achievable, wonderful way of living.
You don’t have to do everything in regards to creating better health for yourself – but we can all do something today!
What will you do?
And on another note…If you locked your partner and your dog in the trunk and twenty minutes later you went back to get them out – which one would be happier to see you? lol
We love our pets and this week I also spoke with My Fairy Dog Mother, Barbara Neray, who said some of us say no to our dogs so much, the dog ends up thinking is name is “No!” Hmm, I never thought of if that way! She offered up some dog training tips if pups are part of your world.
